Information. Recognition. Community.

The Veteran Foundation is a private initiative with the purpose of supporting Danish veterans and their relatives, i.e. those deployed to war and disaster areas on behalf of Denmark. It includes employees and former employees from the Danish Armed Forces, the Danish Emergency Management Agency, the police, ministries, agencies and similar organisations.

The funds for the Veteran Foundation come partly from donations and partly from profits from activities. The central activity is the ENGAGE Festival, which over two days brings together thousands of guests - both veterans and non-veterans - for music, parties and fellowship.

The Veteran Foundation is working to become a strong private organisation that can work professionally to improve conditions for Danish veterans and act as a supplement to the efforts made by the state. The goal of the Veteran Foundation is to create a strong foundation that can support all associations and initiatives for veterans so that they can spend their time and resources on doing something good for veterans, rather than spending their time on fundraising.

PURPOSE OF
THE FOUNDATION

Recognition

To show that the veteran's efforts are appreciated. Recognition has several purposes, the moral/ethical in that we as a society show we support and recognise, the individual - recognition has a healing and preventive effect on mental illnesses such as PTSD.

Information

The Veterans Foundations activities will be used to tell the story of the "Veterans' cause". Including that there are some who have unfortunately suffered physical and psychological injuries, but also that veterans are not "victims" but a resource in Danish society.

Community

The Veteran Foundation will form a community around the foundation's activities, where veterans are prioritised as volunteers, it will provide life content and, in the best case scenario, help the veteran return to the labour market in Denmark.

Fundraising

ENGAGE Festival is expected to generate a profit. The profits will be distributed to the many voluntary initiatives working to create better conditions for Danish veterans, who are now dependent on support from the defence and the public sector.
